In 1906 the Kentucky General Assembly established two normal schools to train teachers for public schools. Over the past century, through several name changes, the eastern normal school became Eastern Kentucky University.

Materials contributed for digitization are from the University's Special Collections and Archives and include the college yearbooks, catalogs and other materials which document the transformation of the university from its beginnings to the present.
